Lagos Collaborates with the Private Sector on different programs to Produce more Affordable Housing.
To give Lagos residents decent and more affordable housing, the Lagos State Government has declared that it will strengthen its Public-Private Partnership PPP relationship with the private sector.

The State has continued to collaborate with interested private persons and organizations on the construction of new housing units for inhabitants around the State, according to a statement made by Mr Ope George, Special Adviser to the Governor on Public-Private Partnerships PPP.

The Housing Estate Development in Igbogbo, Ikorodu, constructed on 8.8 hectares of land in partnership with Messrs. M-Bridge Limited, and an additional 20 units of Luxury Residential Apartments developed in partnership with Messrs. Westerfield Expert Construction Limited on a plot of land belonging to the Lagos State Liaison Office in Abuja were among the housing projects that George listed in his statement as having been carried out through the PPP model.

• In the Imota, Ikorodu area of Lagos State, George disclosed that the Lagos State Government is also collaborating with Messrs. Brooke Assets and Resources Limited to develop 20 hectares of land into a mini-city of 3,546 units of One and Two-Bed Apartments. He also noted that similar multiple apartments are currently being built in Ilubirin, Abraham Adesanya, Ajah as well as GRA, Ikeja.

• He explained, "The GRA, Ikeja project is a collection of residences inside the Ikeja location of the Lagos State Old Secretariat. At Bayview Estate in Ikate-Elegushi, Lateef Jakande Housing Estate in Igando, Badagry Housing Estate, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye Housing Estate in Igbogbo, and Babatunde Olushola Benson Housing Estate in Ibeshe, additional affordable units have been built and delivered.

• The Special Adviser further disclosed that a joint venture between RPDC Limited and Lagos Building Investment Plc LBIC produced the Greater Lagos LBIC Apartments at Agege, which the Lagos State Government recently put into service.

• Since the start of the current administration, the state government has launched at least 15 housing projects and delivered 3,526 housing units across the State, according to George. He also noted that the government will continue to work with the private sector to provide affordable infrastructure and reasonably priced homes to the deserving residents of Lagos State.
